Pedicure at Home

Beautifully groomed and feet speak volumes about your overall health. In our day-to-day hectic lifestyles, we often neglect to take care of our feet.

Along with face, one must pay attention towards feet and hands otherwise it will become chapped. Daily skin cream and moisturisers are not enough to take care of your hands and feet. Frequent Pedicure is essential for soft hands and feet.

Regularly visiting parlour can be quite expensive. Instead, we can use ingredients, readily available in our kitchen.

Following article will lead some home remedy for smoother feet:

1. Remove the old nail paint

The first step to start with the Pedicure is to remove your old nail paint. Dab nail polish remover on cotton pad and massage on your nail to remove the polish.

2. Cut and file your nails

Second step is to prepare your nails. Cut the nails carefully so that they don’t cut so much deep. After cutting file your nails using a filer and try to file them in a single direction.

3. Apply the Cuticle Cream

After cutting the nails apply some cuticle creams on your feet. You can apply a combination of olive oil and coconut oil instead of cream. Olive oil boosts healthy nails and cuticles by penetrating the skin and nails.

4. Relax and soak your feet

This is the best and most relaxing step of pedicure. Soak your feet for fifteen minutes. Take some warm water, add some rock salt, shampoo and lemon juice in it. These works great on dead skin and gives a relaxing effect on tired and aching muscles of the feet.

5. Remove the dead Skin

Take your feet from the water, dry them with towel. Use a cuticle pusher to push back the cuticles and trim them. If you have cracked heels and hard skin with calluses on the heels, use a corn cutter to remove them and then use a foot filler or a pumice stone to brush our the remaining dead cells.

6. Scrub and Massage your feet

Again soak your feet into the water to remove the dirt and dry them. Apply a good scrub all over your foot. You can apply foot scrub available in market or prepare one at home.Mix 2 tablespoon coconut oil, 4 tablespoon sugar, 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1 tablespoon honey.Massage your ankles, heels, fingers and soles of the feet. After this wash your feet and dry them.

7. Moisturise

Apply a moisturiser and gently massage the feet with hands. One can apply home made moisturiser.Take 3 tablespoon shea butter, 4-5 drops lavender oil, 2 tablespoon coconut oil and 1 tablespoon almond oil. Mix all of them and apply to your feet, fingers, toes and ankles. You can preserve the mixture in air tight container for future use.

8. Apply nail paint

After moisturising, apply nail paint of your choice. For final touch just wipe the smudges with a cotton pad dipped in a nail polish remover. Apply a final transparent shine coat on top of the nail paint to give it a glossy finish.

Repeat this process at least once a week to have skin as soft as silk.
