HARMANPREET KAUR- FIRST INDIAN WOMEN PLAYER TO SCORE A CENTURY IN T20I

Inspired by the legend Virender Sehwag’s mantra of ‘see ball, hit ball.’ Harmanpreet kaur from Punjab daughter of Harmandar Singh Bhullar, a Volleyball and Basketball player and Satwinder Kaur designates the first Indian women’s player to score a T20I century in women’s cricket. She accomplished this milestone during India’s first match of the ICC Women’s World T20 against New Zealand.

During her sparkling innings, she slammed seven boundaries and eight maximums to a spirited 194/5 in 20 overs. During her 51-ball stay in the middle, she sent the New Zealand bowlers on a leather hunt as she predestined boundaries attentively. Due to this worth she became the first Indian player to score a T20I hundred in women’s cricket.

She reached the three-figure mark in 49 balls, punishing the New Zealand bowlers with eight sixes and seven Fours. The captain acknowledged failure when India was struggling at 40 for three.

She signed a two-year batting deal with CEAT, thus becoming the first ever Indian woman cricketer to have bagged a bat endorsement deal.

The 29-year old girl joined the Punjab police as a DSP but Punjab government retained her from her designation as they observed her graduation degree fake. After her remarkable performance in an Indian cricket team captain Amrinder Singh had offered her DSP designation. She resigned her job last year.

She begins to play cricket from Kamaldish Singh Sodhi’s “Premier Cricket Academy.” Her remarkable performance in the Academy led to her selection in the Moga district team through which she participated in the state tournament.

She made her international debut on 7 March, 2009, against arch rival Pakistan in the 2009 ICC Women’s World Cup. On 11 June, 2009, she made her T20 international debut against England. She continued her journey with numerous brilliant innings and achieved the milestone.

She is a versatile Batswoman in the Indian women’s cricket team and was awarded the prestigious Arjuna Award for Cricket in the year 2017 by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports

Before the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2017, held in England in July, She initiated to introduce herself as a cricketer. She also had to explicate that the Indian women’s cricket team plays a good game, much like men in blue. After the victory of the World Cup, the women’s game has grabbed the rapid growth.
